Grant The Sun – Norwegian Prog/Post Rock Group Featuring Members Of Meshuggah, Insense And Beaten To Death Share New Track "Sur Jupiter" Via Metal Sucks

Norwegian instrumental prog/post-rock group Grant The Sun have recently announced the release of a new EP titled “Sur Jupiter”, due out on December 20th via Mas-Kina Recordings.

The group formed by members of Insense and Beaten To Death are joined on this new EP by none other than Meshuggah’s guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, who plays bass on these four new tracks that show a stunning combination of groovy and complex rhythms with some engaging melodies that will likely appeal to fans of Devin Townsend, Extol, Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders as to fans of Explosions in the Sky and The Ocean. The follow-up to last year’s “Simmar Ur Bild” was produced by Danne Bergstrand at Dugout Productions and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory at Obey Mastering and features the artwork cover of Anette Mehl Landmark.

The leading single and title track is now playing at Metal Sucks, who commented "The Meshuggah connection will be readily apparent in the song’s galloping, mathematical, strobe-light riffage. But it’s generally more melodic that the Swedish legends, and is just as sure to appeal to fans of Devin Townsend and Extol as it is lovers of Thordendal’s day job. Also, did we mention the GROOVE on this mutha? Because this song has GROOVE, kids. The Grand Canyon ain’t got nuthin’ on “Sur Jupiter.”
