Dream the Electric Sleep was formed in 2009 by Joey Waters, Matt Page, and Chris Tackett. Joey and I are from Lexington, Kentucky and Chris is from West Virginia, a neighboring state. Joey and I are cousins and started playing together at age 16, twenty years ago! We played in a couple of different projects before DTES. Chris joined the band about 8 years ago and that is when DTES was formed. We have always been motivated by pushing our song-craft, and trying to write music that moved us emotionally but also challenged our skills as musicians. On top of that it was always our goal to create full, rich albums. I know that is not the most popular thing these days as the music business has really focused on the single or individual tracks disembodied from the album, but I like context. I want the song before and after a track on an album to influence your relationship to it. That is a very 1970’s thing I think.

Dan about the new album: Hard is harder, soft is softer and a slightly more epic soundscape. I would like to say that it is a huge step forward in every way from the 1st album. Now we know what works an we're building on that rather than trying to break in to new sonic territories.

Our influences are really all over the place. Mixi loves jazz singers like Louis Armstrong and Etta James as well as Frank Sinatra and on through Amy Winehouse; Decker is influenced by heavy hitting and innovative drummers like John Bonham, Matt Cameron and Danny Carey; Merritt is heavily influenced by John Five on guitar and film scorers like Hans Zimmerman for composition; Randy is a huge fan of Flea and Nick was first influenced by Slash.

It is further logical that the upcoming band does not set it's headquarter in snobbish Stockholm or hispter Berlin but chooses the tranquilly city of Jena as their base. The city which has become some kind of "mekka" for Stoner and Noise rock around bands like Dyse or Rodeo Queen and the nearby Stoned from the Underground Festival. The perfect place to pollute the world with a disco stoner tsunami, as Jimmy states.

There was some confusion with people thinking that it was maybe reunion shows we were doing , but we were still a touring band, we just hadn't any new music, so when we did "Darkness in a Different Light", it was actually so great to come out and play new music again, and be on tour with new music, that of course we wanted to do another album. We wanted to do another album right away! So while we were touring for "Darkness in a Different Light" we were writing for this next album.

After a few years of silence, Sulphur is back with their signature brand of technical, blackened death metal. “Omens of Doom” traverse the twilight between the brutal and the epic, and vary from being the soundtrack of destruction to the soundscape of the aftermath. The band has once again worked in Conclave & Earshot Studios with longtime collaborator Bjørnar E. Nilsen (Taake/Helheim/Vulture Industries) for the production, while Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved/Gorgoroth/Audrey Horne) mastered the album.
