Another absolutely stacked announcement wave has landed for Obscene Extreme Festival 2026, bringing together brutal deathgrind legends, cult thrash veterans, horror-obsessed death metal supergroups, grinding newcomers and one final farewell to a legendary piece of Czech extreme music history. Between October 29 and November 7, the Battlefield continued expanding into one of the most diverse and dangerous editions in the festival’s history.
The latest carnage began on October 29 with the return of French brutal deathgrind masters BENIGHTED. Veterans of the OEF stage after devastating appearances in 2008, 2012 and 2018, the band is already deeply connected to the chaotic spirit of the festival. Every previous performance by BENIGHTED transformed the Battlefield into a storm of blastbeats, crowd violence and total madness, cementing their reputation as one of Europe’s most explosive live acts.
Known for their terrifying precision, insane intensity and nonstop aggression, BENIGHTED are expected to return with another set packed full of fan favourites, crushing riffs and pure sonic destruction. The organisers made it clear that this will not simply be another concert, but a full-scale brutal deathgrind assault where bodies fly through the pit and the Obscene spirit erupts louder than ever.
On November 1, the festival shifted toward Czech underground history with the announcement of MOŽNOST VOLBY?, a special project dedicated to honouring the legendary Czech extreme band Gride and their seminal 1999 split release with Mrtvá Budoucnost.
Following the breakup of Gride, the idea emerged to perform the iconic material one final time, leading mastermind Čert to assemble musicians from across the Czech extreme scene under the name MOŽNOST VOLBY?. However, the organisers stressed that the project will only perform a very limited number of concerts before disappearing forever — and the final performance ever will take place at Obscene Extreme Festival 2026.
According to the announcement, the Battlefield will therefore witness the very last chapter of this unique project, promising complete lobotomy through uncompromising Czech grind and punk extremity.
November 2 then brought another major thrash metal name with the return of German cult legends ASSASSIN. Active since 1985, the band remains one of the most respected and influential names in German thrash metal history, standing proudly alongside the classic Teutonic scene that helped define the genre globally.
Albums such as “The Upcoming Terror” and “Interstellar Experience” are now regarded as absolute cult classics among thrash fans worldwide, yet the organisers made clear that ASSASSIN are far from becoming a band living solely from nostalgia. Their latest EP “Skullblast” proves the band remains just as aggressive and energetic as ever.
After nineteen long years away from the Battlefield, ASSASSIN are finally returning to Obscene Extreme Festival ready to fire another barrage of high-speed thrash projectiles directly into the heads of old-school headbangers.
The following day’s announcement, titled “DIY OR DIE!!!”, appears to have repeated the exact same ASSASSIN announcement once again, reinforcing the return of the German thrash veterans to the festival after nearly two decades.
Fresh thrash blood entered the Battlefield on November 4 with Lithuanian quartet PHRENETIX. Emerging from Vilnius and fronted by the highly talented vocalist Lina, the band combines razor-sharp speed, aggressive riffing, melody and emotional intensity into a modern thrash attack overflowing with energy.
The organisers praised both the band’s growing live reputation and their increasingly strong discography, describing PHRENETIX as one of the brightest rising names in the current thrash metal underground. At Obscene Extreme Festival 2026, the group is expected to demonstrate exactly how modern thrash metal should sound when forged in pure steel.
Horror-soaked death metal insanity followed on November 5 with the unveiling of all-star project SEASON OF THE DEAD. The line-up assembled for this project reads like a dream for fans of underground horror death metal: John McEntee and Chuck Sherwood from Incantation, Fiore Stravino from Fulci, Dave Neabore from Dog Eat Dog, Giacomo Anselmi from Goblin Legacy and drummer Titta Tani, known for his work with Necrophagia and Goblin.
Inspired by cult splatter cinema, horror soundtracks and the rotten atmosphere of bands such as Necrophagia, Mortician and Fulci, SEASON OF THE DEAD aims to create the ultimate death metal soundtrack to gore cinema. Their debut album “Zombie Chronicles Vol. 1” is currently on the way, while their premiere appearance at Obscene Extreme Festival 2026 will feature a very special set heavily focused on material connected to the Necrophagia era.
November 6 then introduced German grindcore wrecking crew VOR DIE HUNDE. Hailing from Passau, the band combines violent grindcore with powerful grooves, sharp aggression and a noticeable sense of humour rooted deeply within the OEF spirit itself.
The organisers described their sound as something scientifically designed to trigger consumer desire among the Obscene audience, while also comparing their ferocious energy to grindcore legends such as Nasum. The band also carries an additional personal connection to the festival through member Dave, remembered by longtime attendees for wandering around the Battlefield with a ukulele performing absurd covers years ago.
Finally, on November 7, the announcement wave closed with Colombian thrash/hardcore force POISON THE PREACHER. Formed in 2021, the band quickly established itself as one of the most furious young acts emerging from Latin America thanks to its violent blend of hardcore aggression and thrash metal intensity.
Despite their young age, POISON THE PREACHER already demonstrate remarkable musicianship and a level of maturity comparable to many established names within the genre. Their debut album “Vs the World” further strengthened their growing reputation, while their live videos already suggest complete destruction waiting to happen at the Battlefield.
With names such as BENIGHTED, ASSASSIN, SEASON OF THE DEAD, PHRENETIX, POISON THE PREACHER and the final farewell of MOŽNOST VOLBY?, Obscene Extreme Festival 2026 continues proving that it remains one of the few festivals in the world capable of uniting grindcore, death metal, crust, thrash, punk and underground culture into one giant celebration of total extremity.
