IMPURE WILHELMINA Return with Haunting New Single “Électricité noire”; Announce New Album 'Le sanglot'

Swiss post-metal veterans IMPURE WILHELMINA have officially broken their silence. Today, the Geneva-based quartet unveils “Électricité noire,” the lead single and opening chapter of their highly anticipated forthcoming album, Le sanglot.

Following the critical success of 2021’s Antidote, the band returns with a sound that is both a radical departure and an organic evolution. “Électricité noire” serves as the emotional and conceptual core of the new record, framed as an ode to the cathartic force of rock music.

A Journey Through Darkness and Grace

The track opens with a massive, haunting arpeggio that gradually unfolds into a surge of raw energy. According to the band, the song acts as a meditation on music as a necessary outlet for anger, grief, and disillusionment in a fractured world.

The release is accompanied by a striking music video directed by Steven Blatter (Prog-Pics). Eschewing complex narratives for physical immediacy, the visual focuses on the band’s performance in a stripped-down setting, reflecting the raw power of the music itself.

Set for release on May 22nd, 2026, via Season of Mist, Le sanglot (The Sob) represents a pivotal moment in the band’s 30-year history. The album was recorded at Kitchen Studio in Geneva, produced and mixed by Yvan Bing, and mastered by the renowned Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna) at Redmount Studio in Stockholm. The record also features a guest appearance by Marion Leclercq (Mütterlein) on the track "Train mort."
