Obscene Extreme 2026 expands the madness with anniversary mayhem, Latin American grindcore and death metal devastation

Another massive wave of confirmations has landed for Obscene Extreme Festival 2026, and once again the legendary Czech gathering proves that absolutely no corner of the underground is off limits. Between September 14 and September 29, the festival added everything from cult death metal pioneers and furious power violence to grindcore chaos, acoustic absurdity and a 35-year celebration from one of OEF’s most beloved bands.

The first announcement in this new batch arrived on September 14 with the return of Czech underground legends MALIGNANT TUMOUR. Longtime friends, supporters and veterans of the festival, the band will return to the Battlefield to celebrate an incredible 35 years of maximum rock and roll destruction. Known for their deafening volume, dirty rock’n’roll swagger and explosive live energy, MALIGNANT TUMOUR remain one of the most iconic acts ever connected to the Obscene Extreme spirit.

The band is expected to perform material spanning their entire career, but the organisers also hinted at something even more special: a possible return to songs from their early grindcore era exclusively for the OEF show. Love them or hate them, one thing is undeniable — MALIGNANT TUMOUR returning home to the Obscene Extreme stage is going to become one of the most emotional and chaotic moments of the festival.

On September 15, the spotlight shifted towards Australia with the addition of Melbourne grind/powerviolence wrecking crew CHOOF. Despite only existing for three years, the quartet has already built a reputation for devastating live intensity and frightening precision. Their music combines blistering grindcore speed with violent power violence chaos, delivered with the force of a hurricane.

The organisers described the band’s sound as an “extreme blow to the solar plexus”, highlighting their stop-and-go structures, overwhelming speed and crushing sonic violence. CHOOF will also make their very first European appearance at Obscene Extreme Festival 2026, making their set one of the most anticipated discoveries for fans searching for new extreme underground acts.

The global grindcore assault continued on September 17 with the return of Argentine grinders SOCIAL SHIT. For OEF founder Čurby, the connection between Argentina and Obscene Extreme has always been deeply personal, making the return of a South American band to the Battlefield feel almost inevitable.

Formed in 1999, SOCIAL SHIT have spent decades delivering savage Latin American grindcore built on downtuned guitars, furious drumming and monstrous guttural vocals. Fourteen years after their previous appearance at the festival, the band will finally return to Trutnov, bringing with them the raw energy and spontaneity that has always defined the Latin American extreme scene. The organisers made it clear they intend to welcome the band back properly — with absolute chaos and brutal dancing in front of the stage.

September 19 then brought one of the biggest death metal announcements yet with the addition of Danish pioneers MACERATION. Originally formed in 1989 by members of Invocator, the band became cult legends through their classic 1992 debut album “A Serenade of Agony”, which featured none other than Dan Swanö on vocals.

After decades of silence, MACERATION returned triumphantly in 2022 with “It Never Ends”, proving they had lost none of their power. Their newest album, “Serpent Devourment”, released in 2025, pushes the classic HM-2 chainsaw sound to devastating new levels, combining brutality, melody and relentless aggression.

Now fronted by Jan Bergmann Jepsen, the band’s live performances are once again crushing audiences with cavernous growls, suffocating riffs and pure old-school death metal fury. At Obscene Extreme Festival 2026, MACERATION promise a setlist covering both their early classics and their modern material, honouring their legacy while proving they remain a lethal force within extreme music more than thirty years later.

Finally, on September 29, OEF added something completely different with the announcement of HEAVY KEVY PARTY. The eccentric frontman of Austrian crossover maniacs Insanity Alert will appear at the festival with a solo acoustic performance unlike anything else on the line-up.

Rather than delivering crossover violence, HEAVY KEVY will perform soft rock songs with acoustic guitar and kazoo accompaniment, combining humour, absurdity and surprisingly emotional songwriting. The organisers warned fans not to search for him on the main stage schedule, as his performances will take place in secret locations around the Battlefield area — possibly inside the beer tent, possibly somewhere entirely unexpected.

With every new announcement, Obscene Extreme Festival 2026 keeps proving that it is far more than just another extreme music festival. It remains a worldwide gathering point for underground culture in all its forms — chaotic, filthy, emotional, absurd and completely unforgettable.
