For many attendees, Obscene Extreme is about far more than just music. It is a celebration of underground culture, friendship, freedom and, of course, good beer. Continuing a tradition that has become increasingly popular among festival-goers, Obscene Extreme has once again teamed up with Pilsen's Elektrárna Brewery to create a special beer dedicated to one of the festival's headline acts.
For the 2026 edition, the honor goes to hardcore legends Converge, who inspired this year's festival brew: "Grind Is Not Enough – Converging Beyond the Obscene!"
Created as a tribute to the band's uncompromising intensity and relentless energy, the beer also draws inspiration from Salem, Massachusetts, the city closely associated with Converge throughout their career. The result is a distinctive gluten-free pale lager, brewed in a traditional Czech style while incorporating modern hop character and contemporary craft brewing techniques.
The unfiltered and unpasteurized lager combines classic Czech brewing heritage with the aromatic profile of Jester and Simcoe hops, delivering subtle citrus and resinous notes. A carefully balanced bitterness is provided by Saaz Comfort, ensuring a clean finish and exceptional drinkability—an ideal companion for long days and even longer nights at Battlefield.
According to the brewery and festival organizers, the beer was designed to reflect the same qualities that have defined Converge for decades: intensity, chaos, determination and a constant drive forward.
The beer features an alcohol content of 4.7% ABV, an original gravity of 11° Plato, and 41 IBU of bitterness. The malt bill combines traditional Pilsner malt with a touch of chocolate malt, creating a balanced profile that remains highly refreshing while offering additional depth and character.
As with previous festival-exclusive brews, this special edition will only be available during Obscene Extreme Festival 2026, making it a must-try for both craft beer enthusiasts and devoted fans of Converge.
